What was your first job?
As a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach, CA, I spent the summer living on the beach and teaching kids how to surf. I’m not sure I could still stand up on a surfboard, but my sun protective behaviors have greatly improved since then!
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
As much time as I can with my husband and son. On an ideal day, we break out the jogging stroller for a run outside, explore a local park, and end the day with homemade pizza. Bonus points if there’s time for a cup of coffee while reading a good book in the morning.
What inspired you to become a dermatologist?
My interest in dermatology began when I was a teenage patient at Dermatology Specialists and continued to flourish throughout medical school. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to treat patients of all ages with a variety of skin conditions and help improve not only their physical health, but also their emotional well being and quality of life, just like Dermatology Specialists did for me.
What would you do if you weren’t a dermatologist?
I think I would enjoy working at a college career center, helping students find their vocations. I am lucky to have found a career that I love, and I enjoy mentoring people and supporting them in achieving their goals.
