Dermatology Specialists is the premiere private dermatology practice in the Twin Cities. Our practice of
fourteen board-certified dermatologists and eighty-five employees provides comprehensive medical,

Summary
The Patient Account Specialist plays an important role in our business office by assisting patients with
managing account balances, cost estimates, prior authorizations, and educating patients on their
accounts and EOBs. They are responsible for posting patient payments, monitoring payment plans and
answering incoming Business Office phones. The individual will also work as a part of the Business Office
team assisting in other areas depending on work volumes.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for accurately posting of all patient payments.
• Work with patients to complete and monitor patient payment plans.
• Responsible for generating patient statements.
• Work through patient accounts prior to collections.
• Maintain close communication with collection agency.
• Verify patient benefits and eligibility and support submission of prior authorization requests.
• Prepare estimates for patients, pre-collect deposits/deductibles, and educate patients on costs.
• Placing and receiving patient financial calls.
• Develop and deliver training to staff on business office related issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, medical records, and practice management software required.
A proven ability to overcome obstacles to generate results.
One or more years of healthcare-related customer service or patient financial services experience.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, demonstrates a strong attention to detail, is
motivated by new challenges, and strives to be constantly learning and improving.
As a condition of employment Dermatology Specialists, does require a current Influenza vaccination.

Physical requirements
Office work required to stand, walk, sit, and carry items less than 25 pounds. Continually utilize visual
acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
